ROCK OF AGES: Rock 'n Roll Art Show

Studio 659 is calling out to artists of all kinds in search of work that represents Rock and Roll. Artists working in all media and styles of artwork are welcome to submit. 

Submissions due:  May  15  
Notifications: May 17
Delivery of work:  Work must be delivered by May 25th during regular studio hours or shipped at the artists expense
Opening: June 1 from 6:59 pm - 9pm
Show Closes: June 30
Pick up Artwork: July 5th Noon - 7 pm      July 6th  Noon-7pm     July 7th 10am -2pm  
Artists are invited to submit up to 3 JPEG images to: Studio659Whiting@aol.com
2-D and 3-D submissions in all media and styles welcomed. Please include an image list in your email with title, media, size, year completed, and price. 
Jpeg files should be named: first initial last name title. e.g.: JSmithPINK. Also please denote any special installation needs in your email. 
All 2-D work must be framed and wired. Gallery wrapped canvases do not need framing, but must be wired. 
There is a $20 participation fee for accepted artists, due upon delivery. *This fee is waived for members of Studio 659. 
You may join the Studio 659 membership for $25 ($30 for families). Membership is valid for one year. 
The Studio retains a 30% commission, please factor this into your retail pricing. 
An artist reception will be held on Friday, June 1 and all regional artists are strongly encouraged to attend. 
The gallery reserves the right to decline any accepted artwork upon delivery if the condition or quality is other than represented in the submission. 
Submissions must not have been previously displayed at Studio 659.

Bike Rack/Public Art RFP

Studio 659 and The Whiting Arts Council (WAC), in partnership with the City of Whiting, is soliciting proposals from qualified artists to design and fabricate bicycle racks for installation in Whiting, Indiana along 119th Street. This project should provide functional art to the City of Whiting, further the community’s sense of spirit and pride, and encourage bicycle transportation. We are searching for artists to design up to 5 bike racks. The designs may be wholly original or adaptations of the existing city supplied racks. The project budget is $10,000. A Little About Us- Studio 659:Studio 659 is an Art Studio in the heart of the historic downtown district of Whiting, Indiana. Located only 20 minutes from Chicago on the shores of Lake Michigan, Studio 659 is not only an art gallery but a studio which offers classes to youth and adults as well as puts on live music events, book signings and more.The Studio is headed by the Whiting Arts Council which was a brainchild of Mayor Joe Stahura.  The Council is made up of representatives from all of Whiting's artistic organizations including: Whiting Lakefront Symphony, Marian Theatre Guild, Arts Alive!, 119th St. Artists, Calumet College, Whiting High School's Art Department as well as at-large members of the community who have art backgrounds.For press inquiries or more information regarding Studio 659 or the Whiting Arts Council, please click on our Contact Page.
